Counseling & Social Work
Graduate Counseling Student Association (GCSA)
The Graduate Counseling Student Association is the professional association of Detroit Mercy Counseling students. The GCSA is devoted to fulfilling a wide range of community engagement and service activities, coordinating enhanced professional development activities, and promoting a culture of collegiality and support among Counseling students in the spirit of Detroit Mercy.
Student Social Work Association
The Detroit Mercy Student Social Work Association (SSWA) is committed to promoting student engagement and cooperative activities within the University, Department of Social Work, and broader Detroit-area community.
SSWA leadership serve as liaison to the Department to raise awareness of student/program concerns and also represent the voice of the student on University wide committee and Department Committees. A member of the Social Work faculty serves as faculty advisor to SSWA.
Cybersecurity
Cybersecurity Club
The Detroit Mercy Cybersecurity Club introduces students to cybersecurity concepts through peer discussion, hands on activities and expert presentations. Topics to be discussed include but are not limited to, network security, digital forensics, penetration testing, secure coding, cryptography, and reverse engineering. Open to all majors.
Self Expression & Communication
[SIC]
[SIC] is a student-run journal of creative writing and criticism published in the English Department's Dudley Randall Center for Print Culture. For back-issues or submission inquiries, contact Professor Rosemary Weatherston at weatherr@udmercy.edu.
Detroit Mercy Radio
Detroit Mercy Radio is an internet radio station where students create and host their own podcasts.
Varsity News
The Varsity News is a newspaper by and for the students of University of Detroit Mercy. It is written and published by journalism students enrolled in the Detroit Mercy Department of Communication Studies.
Detroit Mercy Theatre Company
Detroit Mercy students have the added benefit of participating in the Detroit Mercy Theatre Company, established in 1970, to gain direct experience in all aspects of theatre management and performing.
History & Political Science
Phi Alpha Theta (History Honors Society)
The Department of History is home to the Zeta-Sigma Chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, which was chartered in 1956 at the University of Detroit. Phi Alpha Theta, the national history honorary, was founded in 1921 at the University of Arkansas.
Phi Alpha Delta and Political Science Association
There are two Political Science organizations at Detroit Mercy that students can get involved with. These organizations are Phi Alpha Delta, the Pre-Law Club, and Pi Sigma Alpha, the Political Science Association.
Psychology
Psi Chi (Psychology Honors Society)
Psi Chi is the National Honor Society in Psychology, founded in 1929 for the purpose of encouraging, stimulating, and maintaining excellence in scholarship and advancing the science of psychology.
