Accepting Appointments

The Counseling Clinic is accepting appointments for in person counseling.  Counseling Clinic workers are fully vaccinated and the Counseling Clinic adheres to mask protocols based on prevalence rates in Wayne County.    

Hours

The Counseling Clinic is open during the academic year, September through April on Mondays and Friday afternoons and evenings. 

Location

The Counseling Clinic is located on the first floor of Reno Hall on the McNichols campus of the University of Detroit Mercy (McNichols and Livernois). 

Mission

To provide no-cost individual and group counseling to members of the local community. The Detroit Mercy Counseling Clinic, located on the campus of the University of Detroit Mercy and operated by the Counseling Program, uses evidence-based practices  to treat a wide array of clinical issues. The Detroit Mercy Counseling Clinic does not discriminate against any individual for any reason.

The University of Detroit Mercy Counseling Clinic is a teaching clinic, providing specialized training for Master's level Counseling students while meeting the mental health treatment needs of the community. Counseling trainees are supervised by fully licensed professional counselors (LPC).

Types of counseling offered include individual and group counseling. Counseling is provided to support individuals wishing to address a range of issues including but not limited to substance use and other addictive behaviors, grief and loss, transition-related challenges, domestic violence-related issues, adjustment-related issues, serious mental health challenges, and other challenges and/or struggles related to living. Individuals currently working with a Court (i.e., court-mandated) are welcome as are all members of the community. Space is limited.
