John Lupo,
Master of Arts in Economics
“The ability to do the entire degree online was a real selling point for me—I’ve been able to pursue my Masters while still working a full-time job and balancing other life responsibilities. While I am still in the midst of the program, I’ve already been exposed to a wide variety of economic topics—from the econometric skills used to drive micro-business actions to the wide-scale techniques used to map the development of entire nations. Economics has been a passion of mine for years, and this program is allowing me to explore that passion to the fullest. Not only is it teaching me skills that can be useful in my current role as a data analyst, but I know that the program is developing me for a future leap into becoming a full-time economist.”
Christopher Sauerwein '21,
Master of Arts in Economics
"My experience in the economics graduate program at Detroit Mercy was wonderful and challenging. I learned fundamental theoretical concepts while being challenged beyond my comfort zone in quantitative courses, which gave me confidence in creating econometric models. There is much to be explored regarding the nature of the firm as it relates to contracts and law production!"
Paul Garbarino '20,
Master of Arts in Economics
"Working as an economist with the Bureau of Labor Statistics strongly correlates with my career goals and skillsets. I've just moved out to Washington, D.C. to carry out my new career/adventures in the nation's capital. I largely attribute my career promotion to the Master of Arts in Economics Program at University of Detroit Mercy. The courses I took with Christopher Rakovalis and Joseph Weglarz, such as 'Theory of International Trade,' 'Economics of the Public Sector,' and 'Money and Capital Markets' were extremely insightful, and I enjoyed them all. I greatly appreciate the time Rakovalis and Weglarz dedicated to me and the program. I look forward to staying in touch with them in the future!"
