As the demand for skilled cybersecurity professionals continues to grow, universities are enhancing their programs to provide students with practical, real-world experience. The competition provided students with hands-on experience in cybersecurity defense, simulating real-world threats and response strategies.

This designation puts UDM among just 216 other institutions nationwide to receive this distinction. It identifies research happening at colleges and universities that historically have not been recognized for their research activity, including institutions that do not offer many or any doctoral degrees.
